Bachelor students supervised by members of the biodiversa ecology research group presented their degree projects at IFM Biology, Linköping University, on 28 May 2026. Several interesting ecology thesis projects were conducted, including topics like
- Habitat preferences of the polypore Fomitopsis rosea
- Occurrence and distribution of lichens on ancient oaks along a successional gradient
- Parasitoid wasp genus Mesoleptidea and its taxonomy
- Negative effects of vegetation encroachment on the vitality of veteran oaks
- Occurrence of great crested newt, Triturus cristatus, and smooth newt, Lissotriton vulgaris, in relation to pond quality and surrounding landscape
Among others. Each presentation was followed by a formal opposition from a fellow student. During the oppositions, scientific questions about methods, findings and conclusions were brought up, as well as comments on report structure. Fika was served at Blå torget between sessions.
We would like to congratulate all the students on their achievements and wish them the very best of luck in their future careers and further studies.
